Schedule
The event is in two parts - an opensource barcamp and a hackfest. You can take part in one or the other – or both!
Open Source Barcamp A barcamp is an open, participatory event or 'unconference', with content provided by all those attending. For more information/further explanation of the barcamp concept click here.
At the start of the day you will be invited to schedule topics/presentations relating to anything that interests you in the world of open source. There will be a number of session times throughout the day, held in a variety of rooms at the venue. You can then choose the topics you are most interested in attending each session, and head along and participate in the discussion.
Hackfest This is being organised by Super Happy Dev House and WellyLUG. Come along and join in the all-day hackfest located in a large room at the same venue as the barcamp. We are planning an installfest, some demos and general hacking. An installfest is a chance for users new to Linux and open source software to bring their computers to have Linux installed on them at no charge by experienced users, as well as providing a supportive environment to ask questions, try out the software and get any technical problems resolved.
Come along and work on whatever you like, discuss what you're building, and join others working on awesome open source projects. OLPC will be there looking for volunteers to learn more about their laptops, plus you can bring your own open source project along and share what you are doing with others.
If you have an idea for the hackfest then contact Brenda Wallace.
Software Freedom Day wiki: Check out our wiki to find out more - feel free to join up and add topics you are interested in for the barcamp or projects you are hacking on at the moment.
Note: the venue will be open from 10am for those participating in the hackfest to come along and setup. There will be free wifi at the venue, but you will need to bring your own laptop.
